Our Story
What began 40 years ago as a giftware company has matured into a distinguished purveyor of passementerie, drapery hardware and decorative nails for the interior design trade.
Founded in 1985 by Ursel Thiergart, Brimar provided gift-themed products and decorative tassels to floral shops and gift stores like Hallmark. At the same time, interior designers and fabric stores came calling for a line of decorative trimmings to embellish their décor projects. Brimar embraced the challenge and developed its first collection of trimmings which proved to be an overnight success. This shaped the trajectory of Brimar’s business model — resetting its sights on the design industry. In 2000, Brimar created a diverse line of drapery hardware, and in 2023, Brimar acquired a decorative nail line through an acqusition.
Today, the company is led by Ursel’s two sons, Brian and Marc — hence the name Brimar, pronounced “Bry-Mar.” Guided by the philosophy “Design Big. Choice Small,” Brimar has become a boutique design source that inspires and awakens your creative vision.
